Sedation
Sedation dentistry involves the use of pharmacological calming agents to relax the anxious or nervous patient prior to their dental treatment. All restorative and cosmetic dental services can safely be performed during dental sedation. At Pleasanton Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, we offer two types of sedation: oral sedation and nitrous oxide (laughing gas) sedation. Each type of sedation has its own benefits. Please consult with our dentists to learn which type of sedation is best for you.
What precautions do I need to take?
Before choosing dental sedation, it is absolutely necessary to consult with our dentists. Not all patients are suited for all types of sedation. Many forms of sedation have lingering effects. For everyone’s safety, patients who opt to receive dental sedation need to have a friend or family member present at the office in order to drive the patient home from their appointment.
